Friday 2 December was Carers Rights Day in the UK. Carers and the people they care for came to The Point at The Point for a drink, a chat and some creative activities with our artists. It was also a chance for them to find out more about the support and advice available to them on caring matters.
In the afternoon, the artists took the message into the centre of Doncaster to try and find hidden carers in the town. The travelling circus of dancers, fire-eaters and musicians spent the afternoon talking to people about caring and entertaining chilly shoppers.
Not sure if you’re a carer? A carer is someone who spends a significant proportion of his or her time providing unpaid support to a family member, partner or friend who cannot manage on their own due to frailty, disability, serious illness, mental ill health or substance misuse problems. If that sounds familiar, then please contact Hayley.
In the new year, look out for the launch of darts’ poster campaign which aims to get the attention of the people of Doncaster and encourage hidden carers to step forward.
