darts artists jumped at the chance to work with the under 4s and their grown-ups at the Central Children’s Centre on Welcome Way.
The weekly workshop called Spring Jellybeans provided creative activities for the under 4s and their grown-ups and used music, movement and stories to encourage sharing, celebrating and exploring arts activities and creative approaches to learning in a safe and supportive environment.
The choice of activities was vast and the children and adults were able to join in with African drumming, songwriting, making props and treasure hunts.
Amanda Curd, an outreach worker at the Centre said: "The children and the grown-ups have been able to take part in lots of activities which has helped build self esteem. The sessions were great at getting the parents to interact really closely with their children which helped them build on their relationships."
darts has many years of experience in designing and delivering workshops with babies and young children. Artists design creative activities which can be adapted so all ages and abilities can safely get involved. Links are also made to the Early Years Foundation Stage areas of learning and development.
Amanda continued: "I feel like we had a good relationship with all of the artists and they made us feel involved in the activities as much as possible. They also gave us lots of new ideas of activities we could do with the parents in our future sessions."
