This early years project aims to engage children and their grown ups in exploring and creating songs, rhymes and music together.
darts was commissioned by Doncaster Early Years Service to work on the 'Parents as Partners in Early Learning' programme, in which DFES funding was used to develop a programme of music work which focuses on families with very young children in Balby, Conisbrough and Denaby, Edlington, Bentley and Thorne Moorends. It ran from September 2007 - March 2008.
The project involved musicians working in people's homes in partnership with family workers and bilingual support assistants. There were also music sessions for parents and their children in the local Children's Centres, which enabled people to create new songs and music with their children in a playful creative environment.
A CD and booklet of original and traditional songs and rhymes was developed, recorded and shared with families across the Children's Centre areas.
