OUR WORK / Early Years

Training for early years practitioners at The Point

Between May and June the five key Leaping Imaginations artists delivered free training at The Point which was open to all early years practitioners across Doncaster.

The five evenings were well attended by practitioners from nurseries as well as foundation-stage teachers and childminders. Sessions focused on movement play, music, role play and story making, messy movement and visual arts.

Through taking part in creative workshops the practitioners were given the opportunity to participate in a range of creative activities appropriate for use with very young children. The skills shared at these workshops were eagerly taken back to their settings to be developed with both staff and children. Within the sessions scary sounds were created, stories were told, fish floated, willow was twisted, lycra was pinged and ideas were exchanged.

Practitioners said;

"Making the story up from the box really made my imagination run wild"

"It was all brilliant, very good ideas that are excellent for early years practice-this is how music should be delivered in the foundation stage"
