The 3D group is inspired by local artist

The 3D project engages adults who have a background in substance misuse and are working towards stabilising their lives, developing their confidence and broadening their horizons.

The 3D group met for weekly creative sessions at The Point, looking at photography and contemporary sculpture. They developed their creative skills and knowledge of the art forms, creating photography work of the local landscape inspired by the work of artist Leo Fitzmaurice.

The group worked towards a visit to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, taking part in a workshop with the international artist. One client said as the bus left Doncaster for the sculpture park "Today, we're artists". The project provides a safe space to explore new ideas not related to substance misuse and to broaden horizons and aspirations. Clients learned new creative skills and began to see themselves in a different light - 2 clients in particular took to photography, taking hundreds of images during the project. One enrolled on a college course and exhibited their artwork at the housing support service that they access. The positive participation of the group has impacted on their confidence, with one client accessing and gaining successful employment, another accessing a housing course and all being open to exploring further education ideas.
