Monster Art with Ivanhoe Art Group

There be spooky goings on in Conisbrough!... Down near the castle... there lives a ghoulish group, into raising the living and all things creative!

The Monster Art Club was a summer residency based at the Ivanhoe Centre in Conisbrough for young people. Open to all abilities, this mixed group took part in the monster inspired programme working with visual arts and music. The spook inspired sessions aimed to get the young people's imaginations clanking and a whirring to engage them to take part in a regular after school club following the summer residency... mwah ha har!

This year long piece of work will deliver weekly, creative activities for local young people to access outside of school time, building their skills, confidence and developing new relationships with staff and peers. The young people will be consulted throughout the project, providing them with an opportunity to have their say and inform the programme of activity.

An adult art class also access the Ivanhoe centre and participants will have the opportunity to take part in the sessions as support members of staff. This intergenerational work will provide an opportunity to develop their support skills, meet new people and be inspired by the young people's creative work for their own classes. It will also provide a forum for the young people to work with older people and find out about their creative skills, the project will be rounded off with a joint sharing of their artwork.
