Get involved: Young Curators
If you’re aged 13 – 25 and like art, then this is for you!
We are recruiting young people (13 – 25) with a passion for the arts to become part of our new Young Curators Group. Our Young Curators will be involved in a range of activity, such as assisting with the programming of exhibitions, curating the gallery space, and having a say in the marketing and design of activities for other young people.
The first opportunity will be to work on our upcoming exhibition from Tate and National Galleries of Scotland, ‘Artist Rooms’. The exhibition showcases artworks from a touring collection of over 1699 works of modern and contemporary art by more than 40 major artists. This collection is displayed across the UK through a touring programme, supported by Arts Council England, Art Fund and Creative Scotland.
So far our Young Curators have designed logos, t-shirts and postcards featuring their own artwork inspired by Bill Viola’s piece ‘Catherine’s Room’. Two members spoke alongside Ed Miliband at the launch of the exhibition. The group are planning and running art workshops for other young people, and plan to keep creating and planning activities throughout the duration of the ARTIST ROOMS: Bill Viola exhibition.
Our Young Curators are a friendly and passionate group with a wide range of creative and artistic interests. If you would like more information, email Amy at AmyArcher@thepoint.org.uk.
