Hive and darts announce first Young Poet in Residence at The Point

Along with our partner Hive we are delighted to announce our first Young Poet in Residence at The Point, Lydia Allison.

Lydia will run creative writing workshops and write poetry in response to The Point’s exhibition programme. She will also be running creative writing sessions for groups who use the building regularly and for the general public (more details to be released).

The residency will come to a close with a publication showcasing work from the project. Contributors will be invited to come and read their work at a special launch event in the gallery at The Point.

Lydia says: “I’m really excited for this opportunity! It’s fantastic, and I’m really looking forward to the creative possibilities that will come from the exhibitions.”

Hive South Yorkshire is a hub for young writers (14 to 25) in the South Yorkshire region and the Hatch programme for emerging young writers up to 30. Whether you like to write as a hobby, want to express yourself better with words, or are super focused on a writing career – whatever your interest or ability – Hive is here to help you achieve your writing goals and connect with a wider young writers’ community. Hive’s Young Writers (aged 14 – 19) meet at The Point on a fortnightly basis; they will be getting involved with Lydia’s work.
