Opportunity: Free musical ensemble sessions for Primary/Junior schools in Doncaster

Following the Doncaster Music Education Hub’s recent school visits and by popular request, Doncaster Music Service would like to offer schools within the Doncaster area the opportunity of a free musical ensemble session provided by talented professional musical staff.

As recently quoted by Department for Education Schools Standards Minister, Nick Gibb, ‘music isn’t a privilege, it’s a vital part of a broad and balanced curriculum’. The Music Service’s initiative is supporting the National Plan for Music (The Importance of Music), which states that children from all backgrounds should have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument; to make music with others; to learn to sing; and to have the opportunity to progress to the next level of excellence if they wish to.

The purpose of the session is to promote the engagement of both whole class (first access) and one to one instrumental tuition through an inspirational performance aimed primarily for KS2. The sessions will be available to book for the following instrumental groups:

  • Brass
  • Guitar and Ukulele
  • Woodwind
  • Strings
  • Percussion

The free sessions will be available Tuesday 9th, Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th April 2019.

Before registering your interest, please consider the following school requirements:

  • 30mins assembly time in a suitable hall
  • Indication of preferred day and am or pm slot.
  • Preference of instrumental group
  • Completion of a short feedback form following the performance

This is an excellent opportunity for children to experience a live inspirational musical performance! To register your interest please download and complete the form under the ‘Resources’ tab at the right of this page and return to WAMC@doncaster.gov.uk no later than Friday 22nd February 2019.
