We are proud to have won a National Award!
darts wins Best Family Welcome at the Fantastic for Families Awards 2019
Last night we attended the Fantastic for Families Awards ceremony at the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool and came away with an award in recognition of our contribution to arts and culture for families during the last year!
We are so proud of this award – it really is down to the passion and hard work of all of our staff, trustees and volunteers, as well as all of the amazing visitors and participants that we meet every year.
The winners were voted for by a panel of expert judges from the creative sector and awards recognise the outstanding events that took place during 2018 and the exemplary family-friendly organisations and venues that welcomed families.
Awards have been given by The Family Arts Campaign, the national initiative funded by Arts Council England to connect families with cultural opportunities.
The Point is the only Makaton Friendly venue in Doncaster. Makaton is a language programme using signs and symbols to help people to communicate. Assistant Director, Lucy Robertshaw, is a local Makaton tutor and trains our artists and front of house staff in Makaton. The Point is one of six Doncaster venues with a Changing Place. The Changing Place Campaign supports people who cannot use standard accessible toilets. The majority of staff and volunteers are Dementia Friends trained and The Point is a Breastfeeding Friendly venue.
Our Programmes Manager, Hayley Beecher, was presented the award by Rebecca Blackman – Director of Engagement & Audiences and Midlands from Arts Council England.
Thanks Fantastic for Families for a wonderful evening!
